Police Commissioner Gary Griffith says recent documents produced by a media house reinforce his statement regarding a particular application for a Firearms Users Licence.

There were allegations that the Top Cop approved licences to persons under active police investigation and currently before the courts charged with criminal offences.

Commissioner Griffith maintains that there was an application by a person who, at the time, had no convictions or charges.

He adds however that by the time the file returned to be executed, the applicant had been charged with an offence, and so, the process was stopped in its tracks.

According to the Top Cop, the documents in question will clearly show the timeline as it relates to dates and the sequence of events.
