Top Cop reveals record reduction in murders for T&T

    T&T is witnessing a historic decrease in murders according to the Police Commissioner.

    Data from the TTPS Crime and Problem Analysis Branch shows a murder toll of 309 as of September 2020 – 100 fewer killings compared to the same period in 2019.

    The figures also show that, compared to stats from last year, there have been lower monthly homicide rates for seven months of this year so far.

    Speaking at the weekly media briefing, Mr Gary Griffith says there have also been reductions in several other forms of crime.

    Meanwhile, Mr Griffith dismissed the notion that the reduction in crime can be attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic.
