Top Cop: New police unit to respond to distress call within “seconds”

    Police Commissioner Gary Griffith

Police are expected to respond to a distress call within “seconds” in a new Emergency Response Unit to be established in the coming weeks by Police Commissioner Gary Griffith.

Speaking to San Juan Business Owners last night, he says the current E99 response model will be discarded, and up to four vehicles will be deployed in each constituency, monitored by GPS.

Instead of calls being directed to police stations, the distress call will then be forwarded to the police vehicle nearest to the situation for those officers to respond quickly.

Commissioner Griffith says these GPS vehicles will be on the road 24 hours a day
