All lab tests on a Tobago resident who recently returned from China, have returned negative for the COVID-19 coronavirus.

The THA’s Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development says blood and urine samples as well as nasal swabs were sent to CARPHA for testing on Monday after the person developed a low grade fever.

However in an update released last night, it says since admission to the hospital, the individual has had no fever or any other symptoms of COVID-19.

It says the person will continue to be monitored for nine more days and self-quarantined at home under 24/7 security watch.

The individual returned from the Asian country on February 21st and was put into mandatory home quarantine for a period of 14 days.

The Division says there is no need for panic since there are currently no cases of COVID-19 in Trinidad and Tobago.
