Tobago man pleads guilty to beating woman


    A 33-year-old Tobago man has pleaded guilty to a charge of inflicting grievous bodily harm on a woman.

    Damion Lester Mc Ewen appeared virtually before Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor at the Scarborough Magistrates’ First Court yesterday.

    He pleaded guilty and the matter was adjourned to September 17th for sentencing.

    Mc Ewen is accused of beating the victim using his fist, a broom-handle and a cutlass during an argument on June 23rd, 2020.

    He was arrested on September 4th and charged.

    The accused was initially granted $50,000 bail by a Justice of the Peace at the Scarborough Police Station and told to appear at the Scarborough Magistrates’ Court on September 7th.
