Tobago fishermen rescue Venezuelans after vessel capsizes

    Five Venezuela nationals were rescued at sea, after their fishing boat overturned yesterday in Buccoo, Tobago.

    Around 3:15pm, two local fishermen were working in separate vessels off Buccoo Point, when they observed another fishing vessel registered as ‘Moon Shadow’ in difficulty.

    When the vessel overturned, the fishermen helped the distressed individuals, bringing them to safety, along with their fishing gear.

    Of the five Venezuelans, two are undocumented and further inquiries are continuing to acquire the status of a third.

    They told officers that they usually fished to feed their families.
