Four Tobago agencies have partnered to increase protection for the critically endangered Hawksbill Turtles which nest at Hermitage Bay.

According to Environmental Research Institute Charlotteville’s Natural Resource Officer Sherneil Dick these animals are under threat of poaching, driving on the beach, bonfires and barbecues.

As such, she says ERIC, the THA’s Division of Environment, Studley Park Enterprise Limited and Hermitage Holdings have joined forces.

One of the measures taken is the restriction of vehicular access to the beach by placing large boulders at its entrance.
