Three foreigners who were held following the death of a man in Tunapuna have been released as the Director of Public Prosecutions has ordered an inquest.
The men are 49, 24 and 20 years old.
On New Years Day this year, officers responded to reports of an altercation along Macoya Extension Road and, on arrival, they interviewed several persons.
Aarif Mohammed was found lying in a pool of blood with his hands and feet tied – he was unresponsive but showing signs of life.
He was taken to hospital but was pronounced dead around 10:50pm.
Police enquiries revealed that Mohammed went to the Macoya address with a cutlass and had an altercation with three men who tied him up and called police.
Those three men were arrested but have now been released.
