The Manzanilla Mayaro Road has been closed following the collapse of a section of roadway.
According to the Works Ministry, this measure has been taken due to the hazardous nature of the failure and pending a structural assessment.
Yesterday, the Road was heavily flooded between the 61km to 70km marks.
The Ministry says due to high water levels in the Nariva Swamp, there was significant flooding across the surface of the roadway, with an erosion of a section of the embankment and road structure.
A temporary road closure has also been announced for the S.S. Erin Road in the vicinity of the 24.6km mark, at the corner of Skinner Trace.
This is to facilitate Slope Stabilization Works to address a collapse of the roadway.
The Ministry says utility services relocation is underway, with work to begin once weather conditions are favourable.
Alternative routes are available via John Field Road onto the Fyzabad Branch Road.
