Over 1000 persons have collected LED bulbs through a Public Utilities Ministry project, according to T&TEC.
The commission says distribution began today and by 11am, over 1,200 citizens picked up the items from service centres across the country.
T&TEC believes switching to these bulbs, as well as practicing energy conservation, can reduce persons’ electricity bill.
It reminds that there has been no increase in electricity rates since 2009 and believes that any increase in bills would be caused by increased energy usage.
T&TEC says any rate increase would fall under the purview of the Regulated Industries Commission and be subject to public consultations.
