The SWRHA says a preliminary report has been commissioned with regard to a recent stillbirth at the San Fernando General Hospital.

According to a report, the baby’s parents are claiming negligence and believe the child could have been saved if an immediate caesarean section had been carried out when she arrived at the facility.

They have since called for a probe into the incident.

In a release, the SWRHA says the report will look at the circumstances surrounding the care, with the medical facts to be shared with the family “at the earliest convenience”.

It says the completed report will also be provided.
