Suspect shot and killed by police in St Ann’s


    One man was killed and another remains at large following a police involved shooting on Sunday evening.

    Officers were on mobile patrol around 5pm, when they responded to a report of a black Honda being taken from its owner at gunpoint by two male suspects at Broome Street, Diego Martin.

    The officers saw the vehicle heading along the Western Main Road in St James, and a chase ensued.

    Upon reaching St Ann’s Avenue, one of the suspects allegedly pointed a gun at the officers, who fired their weapons.

    The suspect, later identified as 25-year-old Joel Harracksingh, was hit several times and later succumbed to his injuries.

    The other suspect escaped into a forested area.

    Police reportedly recovered a Glock pistol with six rounds of ammunition at the scene.
