A robbery suspect was held by police officers and soldiers along the Priority Bus Route yesterday afternoon.
A 66-year-old maxi-taxi driver was plying his trade east along the PBR, when he picked a passenger in the vicinity of the San Juan Police Sub-station.
The driver told police that the passenger, who sat behind him, asked to stop at Champs Fleurs, when he suddenly placed him in a choke hold and demanded money.
The driver handed over in excess of $300 after which the man escaped.
The driver raised an alarm to the passing officers and the 45-year-old suspect was apprehended a short distance away.
He was positively identified by the victim.
The suspect, who has no fixed place of abode, is expected to be charged sometime this week with several offences in connection with the incident.
