A 49-year-old Point-a-Pierre man was granted $250,000 bail after appearing in court charged with sexual penetration of a child.
The accused was ordered to stay away from the victim and to report to the Ste Madeleine Police Station once a week.
The charge arose out of an incident in February 2020 in which a 13-year-old girl told police that she was sexually assaulted by a man known to her.
Investigating officers learnt that the victim was asleep at home when her stepfather allegedly laid next to her and fondled her intimately.
The suspect was arrested and charged on November 21st.
