Two stepfathers have been charged in separate instances with the sexual assault of two young girls.
The mother of one of the victims has also been charged with failing to report the abuse.
In the first incident, a nine-year-old girl reported that she was forced to perform acts of a sexual nature on her stepfather, during the period July 31st 2017 and September 1st 2019.
The victim told officers that she confided in her mother about the assaults however her mother allegedly failed to act.
She subsequently reported the incidents to her father who contacted police.
The 39-year-old mother was charged with one count of failing to report the abuse of a minor, while the 35-year-old stepfather is facing was three counts of sexual penetration of a minor and one count of sexual touching of a minor.
In the second incident, a 36-year-old labourer was arrested and charged with five counts of sexual penetration of a minor.
This, follows a report from an 11-year-old girl that she had been sexually assaulted by her stepfather between September 5th 2015 and September 1st 2018.
The girl told police that the abuse came to an end only when her mother and the accused severed ties.
She also confided in her father who made a report to the police.
