Staff at Malick Secondary rally to assist differently abled teacher

The Principal and staff of the Malick Secondary School have rallied to raise resources for the construction of a special driveway and washroom for a fellow teacher with cerebral palsy.

Because of the condition, Natasha Lewis is confined to a wheelchair.

Back in August, Principal Harry Jaikaran and staff were able to secure assistance from two corporate entities for the projects.

Massy Foundation funded a fully equipped washroom for differently-able persons, which was completed during the vacation period.

The NLCB meanwhile is sponsoring the construction of a driveway from the school’s main car park to the Block L where Ms. Lewis’ class is located.

The sod turning for the driveway took place last Friday, and is expected to be completed in time for the school new term in 2019.

Ms. Lewis was assigned to Malick Secondary School on September 3rd 2014 as a TVT 1 teacher to teach Dressmaking/Tailoring.
