St Augustine MP: flood relief grants still outstanding

St Augustine MP Khadijah Ameen says three months after devastating floods, some residents in her constituency are yet to receive relief grants.

She says while some have received phone calls to verify information, others have not, while some allegedly later found out that they were not in the database.

Ms Ameen also claims that while the grants were a maximum of $10,000, some persons got as little as $2,500 despite losing everything.

In December 2022 there was widespread flooding across Trinidad, with St. Augustine South and Bamboo #2 particularly hard hit.

With several months to go before the next Wet Season, Ms Ameen is calling on the Works Ministry to ensure proper maintenance of river banks, flood gates and pumps.
