Soldier placed on bail after assault and protection order breach


    A soldier has been granted $40,000 bail after appearing in court on charges of breaching a protection order and common assault.

    Lance Corporal Anson Young will also have to report to the Matura Police Station once weekly and not contact the victims directly or indirectly.

    The charges stem from an incident on Tuesday 11th August 2020 when the victim was assaulted in the presence of her child.

    She alleged that the accused damaged a laptop and cell phone and even pointed a gun at which time the crying child began vomiting.

    Following the incident a report was made and the man was charged on Monday 24th August 2020.
