Shoplifter tells guard stolen items for the poor, due in court today


    A woman who shoplifted a quantity of clothing in Price Smart over the weekend is expected in court today.

    The Trinidad Express reports that she went to the store on Saturday and took several tops and pants and went to the ladies’ room.

    The woman, of Bamboo #3, Valsayn, placed them in a bag and tried to leave when she was stopped by a security guard.

    When the clothing was found, she claimed that the items, worth more than $3,000, were to be given to the poor.

    She was arrested and charged with larceny.
