The Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha has instructed its lawyers to report the Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission to the Equal Opportunities Commission.
In a letter addressed to the TSC and sent to the media, the SDMS’ attorney Kiel Taklalsingh acknowledges an invitation sent by the Commission for a meeting to discuss issues surrounding the recruitment process of primary school teachers.
The SDMS recently issued a pre-action protocol letter regarding changes made to this process.
In its latest letter, the SDMS says religious heads at other denominational institutions were invited to attend with a ‘technical advisor’.
It claims however that attempts by the SDMS for a technical advisor to accompany the Dharmacharya, Pandit Dr. Rampersad Parasram, were not properly acknowledged or addressed.
It sees this as discriminatory conduct.
The SDMS also criticized the planned meeting, as it believes a decision has already been concluded.
