School driver in court for toddler’s death

School bus driver Sherry Smart has appeared in court charged in connection with the death of three-year-old Isaiah Hazel.

On July 4th, little Isaiah was picked up but not dropped off at his pre-school.

Later that day, he was found dead inside the bus, and an autopsy determined that he died as a result of hyperthermia and dehydration.

Smart was charged with manslaughter and appeared before Couva Magistrate Christine Charles today.

According to the Trinidad Express, she was not called upon to enter a plea to the indictable charge, and was granted $150,000 bail.
