School cleaners are still waiting for salaries, even as the Association of Denominational School Boards scrambles for funds.
According to the Newsday, its head Sharon Mungroo says she was told by the Education Ministry’s Permanent Secretary that monies were released but the delay is getting approval for the cheques.
Despite this, the Association is hoping to get the outstanding money soon so payments can be made by month-end.
The denominational boards signed a memorandum of understanding with the Education Ministry in 2008 for the state to provide financial assistance to their schools in exchange for school places.
Included in this agreement is a quarterly grant for cleaners.
