Sangre Grande police seize $1M in illicit narcotics


    Over one million dollars worth of narcotics was seized by police in Sangre Grande yesterday.

    Detectives of the Eastern Division Special Operations Unit were engaged in a surveillance operation over the past few weeks.

    They made observations and secured a search warrant to enter a home of a man alleged to be dealing in drugs, located at Mc Shine Street.

    During the search, they found several white crocus bags containing a 72 bricks of illicit drugs wrapped in plastic, with a total weight of 55kg.

    The suspect was unable to be found at the time, however the investigators are confident that an arrest in this case is imminent.

    Following this case, detectives believe they have made major inroads into the illicit drug trade within the Eastern Division.
