A Rio Claro resident has been fined after conning a man of $2,500 which he claimed would secure employment at the Works Ministry.
The victim was at the Princes Town Licensing Office on December 9th 2020 when the suspect, identified as Anton Brooks, approached him.
Brooks reportedly offered the job but also asked for $2,500 to be provided alongside the required documentation.
When the victim received a call about an hour later with a request for more money, he made a report to Princes Town police who responded and arrested the suspect.
Brooks pleaded guilty to the offence of obtaining money by false pretences and has been fined $4,000 and has to pay $2,500 in compensation to the victim.
