RIC – no adjustments made to water rates

The Regulated Industries Commission says it has made no adjustments to water rates in recent times.

The RIC is the body with the legal responsibility and authority to determine rates and tariffs for utilities, including the Water and Sewerage Authority.

Its statement comes via Facebook in the wake of a social media post in which a customer claims there was a 35% increase in rates which was retroactive for one year.

The RIC says some time ago it began a review of water rates, in accordance with its statutory mandate and obligations.

It adds however that no adjustment has been made at this time, and none will be made until it has finalized its determination.
