Parents, especially those raising special needs children, are being urged to remember self-care.
This message is coming from Psychologist Shaynelle George of the Down Syndrome Family Network as October, which is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, comes to an end.
She says while celebrating these unique individuals, it is important to remember the parents tasked with raising them.
Ms George believes it is important to create a self-care routine which includes enough sleep, spending time with loved ones, eating healthy and spending some alone time.
She says ensuring that as parent you are functioning to the best of your physical and mental abilities is beneficial to you and your family.
