Princes Town MP: Sabga Report referenced in Parliament Hansard

    The UNC's Barry Padarath.

Princes Town MP, Barry Padarath, says the Sabga Report is referenced in the Parliament’s Hansard.

In a statement issued yesterday, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley said he and his Government were “totally unaware of the contents of a Sabga Report which is now being serialised in the media”.

He also called on the Police Commissioner to find the report and take action.

Today, Mr. Padarath said he accessed a Hansard record which illustrates that on Friday June 2nd 2006, former Social Development Minister, Manohar Ramsaran, indicated that the Sabga Report was laid in the Parliament.

He said there was also a Hansard record from the debate on the Children’s Amendment Bill dated November 19th, 2002, where then Independent Senator, Professor Ramesh Deosaran made specific reference to the report.

According to the Princes Town MP, this flies in the face of the Prime Minister’s comments and insinuations, that the report was hidden.

He adds that the Prime Minister would have been a member of the House when the issue of the Sabga report was raised or referenced, and accused Dr. Rowley of trying to score political points.
