President Paula-Mae Weekes met with Queen Elizabeth II and presented her with a gift in commemoration of her Platinum Jubilee.
The gift is called ‘Woman on the Bass’ and was designed and produced by artist Gillian Bishop.
According to a statement posted on the President’s Facebook page, the T&T Defense Force Steel Orchestra also had a private rehearsal at Windsor Castle, at the request of the Queen.
President Weekes attended the Royal Windsor Horse Show’s presentation in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee, which also featured a performance by the TTDF Steel Orchestra performed.
The 2022 Royal Windsor Horse Show ran from May 12th to 15th.
The equestrian extravaganza entitled “A Gallop Through History”, featured 500 horses and over a thousand performers, and kicked off celebrations marking the Queen’s 70-year reign.
Also, at the request of T&T’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Vishnu Dhanpaul, President Weekes also visited the High Commission where she met with staff and various members of the diaspora including fellow Bishopian, composer Dominic Le Gendre and authors Ron Ramdin and Patrice Lawrence.
