The President has been asked to proclaim the Tobago House of Assembly (Amendment) Act on Monday 26th July, to mark the start of the journey toward a fresh election in Tobago.

This was announced by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley following the 6-6 deadlock in the January THA Election, which leaves the Assembly improperly constituted.

The amended Act will increase the number of seats in Tobago from 12 to 15, and the PM says the Elections and Boundaries Commission will then start work on the matter.

Dr Rowley says once this order is gazetted, moves will be made to dissolve the THA and fix an election date.

Once the Election date is fixed, the EBC will begin all its processes under the Elections and Boundaries Act for the holding of a fresh election.
