Fixing Port of Spain’s 100-year-old drainage infrastructure requires more money and the Mayor believes property tax could help.
Speaking to 103.1FM today, following severe flooding in St James and Cocorite yesterday afternoon, Mr Joel Martinez notes that the unusual incident was triggered by strange weather patterns.
He laments that the city has aged infrastructure and put forward his solution to the lack of funding.
On the issue of ensuring tangible benefits from paying the tax, Mr Martinez says there are ways to hold the corporation accountable.
