Following the discovery of 19 firearms at a Freeport warehouse, the Acting Police Commissioner plans to intensify pressure on criminals.
According to the TTPS, officers yesterday conducted an intelligence-led exercise at Medway Warehouse in St Mary’s Village.
They found a sealed barrel and, on opening it, discovered nine AK-47 rifles, eight AR-15 rifles, two pistols, over 1,000 rounds of ammunition and 36 magazines.
Police say this find represents a joint approach by the TTPS and Customs to target gangs involved in the trafficking of firearms between North America and T&T.
Acting Police Commissioner Mc Donald Jacob says work will continue in channelling resources to remove firearms from the streets.
