Police recruit charged following Tobago accident

A police recruit is one of two persons charged with criminal offences following a vehicular accident in Tobago in February 2022.

32-year-old recruit Reneasha Williams and a 23-year-old man, both of Tobago, were charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

Williams was also charged with making a false report while the man was charged with driving while not being the holder of a driver’s permit, being the driver when an accident occurred and not going to the nearest police station to report the accident.

According to police, a 23-year-old was involved in a crash with another vehicle on February 13th, with a report made later that day by the 32-year-old owner of the vehicle he was driving.

Both the owner and driver allegedly attempted to persuade witnesses to give a false account by saying that the 32-year-old was driving.

Williams received $60,000 bail from a Justice of the Peace and both she and the 23-year-old man are due in court today.
