Officers were able to apprehend a suspect, following reports of a house burglary at Montague Avenue, Trincity on Saturday night.
After officers initially attempted to catch the burglar in the house, a chase ensued after the suspect was seen jumping over a wall at the side of the house.
He was eventually held along Fifth Street, Cane Farm.
The home owner told police he observed a kitchen window forced open and a lock on a door on the side of the house tampered with.
A hammer and a screwdriver, not belonging to the victim, was found at the house on top of a table.
