A 49-year-old man has been charged with the sexual abuse of his 16-year-old daughter following his suicide attempt.
According to the TTPS, the accused was arrested on Saturday 24th October 2020 after the teen reported years of abuse, with the most recent occurrence on Monday 19th October 2020.
Investigations by the South-Western Division Child Protection Unit discovered that the girl was allegedly being abused since the age of 11.
The TTPS says, on learning of the report, the suspect reportedly ingested a combination of pesticide and power steering and brake fluids.
Following his hospitalization, he was discharged, taken into police custody and slapped with five counts of sexual penetration of a minor.
He is due to appear virtually before a Point Fortin magistrate today.
