Two major road projects are carded for North West Trinidad.

On Saturday Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, visited the sites along with Works Minister Rohan Sinanan, and senior officials from the Ministry and NIDCO.

One of the initiatives is the Tucker Valley Road Rehabilitation, which includes a dedicated cycling track in Chaguaramas.

According to the Works Ministry, this project includes the rehabilitation of approximately 715m of roadway connecting Bellerand Road to Tucker Valley Road.

It will also see the construction of open box drains and the rehabilitation of failed sections of roadway along Tucker Valley Road for approximately 3.5km.

This project has been welcomed by the cycling community which has rallied for several years for a dedicated cycling pathway.

The Ministry says it also intends to finalise the Policy and Regulations for the Safety of Cyclists in 2019.

The second project is the Diego Martin Interchange Project which the Ministry says will improve connectivity to the Western Peninsula, increase accommodation for current volumes and future growth, and reduce traffic congestion.
