There will be no Christmas partying in the public sector and private businesses are being urged by government to follow suit.
At Saturday’s COVID-19 media conference, Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley stated that he will instruct the public sector to forego the events.
He says, while the decision will have an economic impact on some persons, it is critical to the reopening of schools in 2021.
Meanwhile, the Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh issued a similar call to private businesses, religious groups and NGOs.
He also urged families to conduct festivities in a responsible manner.
