A preferred bidder has been identified for the Petrotrin refinery and discussions are ongoing.
This is according to Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley who addressed the process of selling the refinery in Parliament today.
In March this year, it was confirmed that the interested parties were given until April to submit revised proposals.
Dr Rowley said evaluations of those proposals have been completed.
There was no word on who is the preferred bidder selected by Trinidad Petroleum Holdings Limited.
A bid from union-owned Patriotic Energies was rejected in 2021 and government returned to market for new proposals.
