Former Petrotrin workers will be given “priority access” to residential and agricultural land under the Aided Self Help Program.

The State’s oil company was closed down on November 30th, 2018

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley says residential plots are available in La Romaine, Picton, Cedar Hill, Couva, Carapichaima, California and Chaguanas, while more plots in other areas will be developed and made available through the program.

He says agricultural land has also been identified for use.

Dr Rowley says the State would also look to develop a special loan agreement with the Agricultural Development Bank for ex-employees.

Furthermore, there will be assessments for ex-Petrotrin workers who have been occupying or planting on State land before December 1st, 2018.
