PM dismisses funding cut after report on children’s homes

The Prime Minister is satisfied that the objectives of a report revealing abuse in children’s homes have been met.

Dr Keith Rowley, speaking at a Post-Cabinet media conference today reminded that a task force has been put in place to ensure the implementation of recommendations from the report.

Last Sunday, the UNC called for an audit of the Children’s Authority, which the report noted is “failing to meet its statutory mandate.

However, Dr Rowley dismissed the suggestion to halt funding pending the audit.

The over 300-page report was laid in Parliament by Government Minister Ayanna Webster-Roy last month.
