PM defends not firing Marlene McDonald upon her arrest

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has defended his decision not to fire former Minister Marlene McDonald immediately upon her arrest last week.

Ms McDonald was taken into custody last Thursday, however she was only relieved of her duties as Public Administration Minister on Sunday, hours before charges were formally laid against her.

During a PNM event at City Hall in Port of Spain last night, the PM said he wanted to be certain as to where things were heading.

Dr Rowley also insisted that his Government is not in a crisis.
