PM: Crime situation “unusually horrendous”

Unusually horrendous – that’s how the Prime Minister has described the crime situation facing T&T.

At today’s Post-Cabinet briefing, Dr Keith Rowley admitted that, while there are social interventions to help with social difficulties facing citizens, “certainly there aren’t enough.”

He was then pressed by a journalist about whether enough is being done.

Following a spate of criminal behaviour, National Security Minister Fitzgerald Hinds this week admitted the situation is “horrendous”.

However, despite several calls, he stated that he has no intentions of stepping down from the post.
