A 33-year-old PH-driver has been charged for the murder of 18-year-old Ashanti Riley.
The San Juan man is expected to appear virtually before a Port of Spain Magistrate today.
The teen’s Ashanti was found at Cake Lands, Santa Cruz, on Friday 4th December, almost a week after she had been reported missing.
The accused was arrested on December 1st.
In addition to the murder charge in this case, he also faces two counts of sexual penetration against a female minor which occurred in March 2020.
While in police custody he was interviewed by officers of the Child Protection Unit and placed in an ID Parade where he was positively identified.
He subsequently charged by the CPU for the offences and is also expected to appear virtually before a Port of Spain Magistrate today to answer to those charges.
