Pfizer booster programme for 12 to 18 age group to begin

    A Pfizer COVID vaccine booster programme will begin from Friday for the 12 to 18 age group.

    At today’s briefing, Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh said the WHO has signed off on the administration of Pfizer boosters for that age group.

    He noted that the local technical advisory group, led by Chief Medical Officer Dr Roshan Parasram, has also signed off.

    Also, Minister Deyalsingh said the Pfizer programme for first doses will be stopped on June 5th while second shots and boosters will continue until the end of June before the vaccines expire.

    Meanwhile, he explained that government had it final meeting with Spanish officials about a donation of the Pfizer vaccine formulated for the 5 to 11 age group.
