Persons urged to get HIV test annually as T&T looks to achieve “95-95-95” targets

T&T has achieved two of three recent global HIV/AIDS targets according to government and to meet 2030 benchmarks, persons are being encouraged to get tested at least once a year.

This revelation comes from Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister Ayanna Webster-Roy during her World AIDS Day greetings.

Speaking on behalf of the National AIDS Coordinating Committee, she says, as of December 2019, T&T was mostly in line with the United Nations’ 90-90-90 target.

Next on the agenda: increasing the target to 95-95-95, to be achieved by 2030.

Minister Roy believes can only be accomplished with increased testing.

Minister Roy says that HIV testing is free, fast, safe and confidential and is available at most public health institutions.
