Pastor expected in court today charged with trafficking in persons

A pastor is expected to appear in court today charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment and trafficking in persons.

Reports indicate that the man will face an Arima magistrate for the charges which stem from a rescue operation at an Arouca facility in October 2019.

69 persons were found and some were locked in cages.

The pastor surrendered to police on Monday and has been in custody since, while other persons who were detained have been released.
