Paria CoE: hearings to resume today


    Hearings for the Commission of Enquiry into the Paria diving tragedy are carded to resume today.

    There were no televised sittings yesterday, as members of the Commission instead visited the site of the incident in Pointe-a-Pierre.

    According to the amended schedule posted to the Commission’s website, today’s sitting will see three witnesses to be called to give oral evidence.

    They are listed as Hassan Mohammed – Facilities Engineer (Mechanical) at Paria, Michael Wei – Technical and Maintenance Manager at Paria, and Ahmad Ali – HSE Manager at LMCS.

    Thus far, there has been witness testimony from Christopher Boodram, the lone survivor of the incident.

    He outlined in harrowing detail, the events leading up to the incident, as well as the fight to make it out of the pipeline after being sucked in on February 25th this year.

    His colleagues, Fyzal Kurban, Rishi Nagassar, Yusuf Henry and Kazim Ali Jr, died inside the pipeline.
