The distribution of vaccines to countries under PAHO, including T&T, remains on track to begin at the end of the first quarter of 2021.
That is the update from CMO Dr. Roshan Parasram, as he relayed information from PAHO’s Director at the Ministry of Health briefing.
He says the Director noted that the COVAX facility, of which T&T is part of, may have as much as 15 COVID-19 vaccines to member states.
Meanwhile, the CMO says they are closely looking at any adverse reactions or side effects to the vaccines that are being experienced currently worldwide, and this will inform T&T’s rollout strategy.
He reminded that when the vaccine arrives in T&T, Phase 1 will involve the inoculation of healthcare workers, frontline workers, persons with NCDs and persons above 60 years old.
