The OWTU, owners of Patriotic Energies Limited, says it has been ready to close the refinery deal with Government since before the General Election.
During today’s budget presentation, the Finance Minister gave an October 31st 2020 deadline for the acquisition of the facility, owned by Guaracara Refining since Petrotrin’s restructuring in 2018.
He warned that if this deadline is not met, the state will consider other options.
However, OWTU Chief Education and Research Officer Ozzie Warwick tells 103.1FM News that there are no other options.
The refinery’s operations were shut down on November 30th 2018 as Petrotrin was restructured.
