Over $200 million dollars in drugs were destroyed at the Caroni Cremation site.
The TTPS issued a media release saying this exercise was carried out yesterday (Wednesday 31st July, 2019), between 6am and 1:45pm.
It says the drugs destroyed included 1030 kilograms of marijuana and 520 kilograms of cocaine, with a combined estimated street value of $225,955,000.
The illegal narcotics it adds were accumulated from finds and seizures from anti-crime exercises – completed matters at the courts and/or closed investigations.
The TTPS says the operation was spearheaded by acting Senior Superintendent Richard Corbett of the Special Investigations Unit and overseen by Health Ministry officials.
