Opposition MP chides Government over handling of crime

Opposition MP Rodney Charles has criticized the Government for its inability to deal with crime, following another six murders in under three days and a forecast of well over 500 murders for 2019.

He says daily we are bombarded with reports of shootings, stabbings, kidnappings, robberies, home invasions and rapes.

However, the UNC official adds “we hear nothing that would give us comfort” from the National Security Minister or the Prime Minister.

Confident that the UNC will be re-elected to Government in 2020, he says they will assume responsibility for the safety and security for all citizens.

Among the measures proposed are the lockdown of and effectively monitored borders, as well as having measurable, time defined, crime reduction and crime detection targets set, to aid in the alleviation of crime.
